03 · The Code
The standard,
is only the start.
Not all tea becomes Mulan tea.
Not every tea becomes Mulan tea. We do not try to own every tea — we keep only what deserves to enter the world of Mulan.
1.5
Most tea is graded Superior or First.
Mulan keeps a standard of its own:
Grade 1.5.
The “1” is the industry's real product standard; the “0.5” is one more choice Mulan makes above it.
“1.5” is not an official tea grade. It stands for what Mulan selects beyond the real product standard — batch, flavour, consistency, and the experience in the cup.
We write no further than the tea proves.
What We Choose · 我們選擇什麼
- 批次 BATCH
Every batch carries a batch number and a picking date — the same mountain will not taste next year as it does this year.
- 風味 FLAVOUR
Each mountain and each craft described by its real flavour — no templates, no exaggeration.
- 穩定性 CONSISTENCY
From fresh leaf on the mountain to the charcoal roast, human judgment holds every batch to its standard.
- 體驗 EXPERIENCE
From water temperature to how long the leaves rest, we write down how to brew this cup well, and send it with it.
EVIDENCE · 執行留痕
Run the Standard Once, Leave Four Documents
MULAN 1.5 is not a slogan. Origin, craft, review, batch — each step, once walked, leaves a document you can put on the table. What follows are those documents as they actually look.
Choosing is itself a standard.
The "0.5" lives in execution — every batch of tea first passes through the gate of choice.
Origin
ORIGIN · 寫到山場與品種The first document is provenance. Origin written to the mountain and its terroir, cultivar written to the exact tree — the same mountain will not taste this year as it will next.
We begin with three great regions, writing each leaf's origin plainly.
Craft
CRAFT · 關鍵工序寫明The second document is craft. Not a "traditional craft" label and done — the key steps, written out one by one.
Longjing · pre-Qingming, hand-finished in the green wok and the finishing wok, heat and hand shaping the leaf together. Rock tea · slow-roasted over gentle charcoal fire in stages — one firing, one layer of flavour. Pu-erh · sun-dried to keep it alive.
Craft terms are taken from the comparison table on this page and from the Tea & Craft page.
Review
REVIEW · 五因子加複核The third document is the tasting record. Before a batch goes on sale, it passes the five factors of sensory evaluation: dry leaf, liquor colour, aroma, taste, spent leaf.
Then a consistency check — from fresh leaf on the mountain to the charcoal roast, human judgment holds every batch to its standard. The record is shown exactly as it is written.

| Terroir | Wuyi Mountain · Jiulongke — the ravine where the mother trees of Da Hong Pao have always lived |

| Picking Date · Batch No. | To be filed (one batch, one number; as marked on the goods) |
| Review Verdict | One line per tea — aroma composed and inward, liquor mellow with backbone |
The record shows only information already published on the product page; unpublished fields appear as "to be filed" to indicate the archive form — no invented scores, dates or numbers.
Batch
BATCH · 一批一號The fourth document is the batch card. One batch, one number: batch number plus picking date. The same mountain, this year and next written apart.
Every batch entering the warehouse carries a batch card — product, terroir, craft, verdict; every column has its source.

FLAVOUR MAP · 風味圖譜
The Flavour Map
In review, Mulan does not read the words "tastes good." Aroma, taste, resonance, consistency, experience — five dimensions, one tea at a time.
Aroma has height and length; taste has weight and depth. Resonance is what remains at the base of the throat after swallowing. Consistency reads across steepings; experience is how the cup lands in daily life.
The dimension names follow the vocabulary of "What We Choose" and of the comparison table on this page.
